If you’re reading this, chances are, you’re a badass developer. That’s what I’m assuming, anyway. Since I already know so much about you, let me tell you a little bit about our city and company, so you can get a feel for where you’ll be working.

ShortStack is a SaaS tool that allows users to create custom content for Facebook, such as data collection forms, contests, and content display. We’re also involved in mobile, CRM and location-based dev. We’ve got some cool plans for 2012, but you’ll have to work here to get all the details

We’re not a typical startup, we’re a bootstrapped company that’s been around for almost 10 years. We don’t have any angel funding or VC because we believe that good products should provide all the funding you should ever need. ShortStack has more than 80,000 users serving more than 120,000,000 Facebook Fans, and we go out of our way to offer exceptionally awesome customer service to all of them.

ShortStack’s head office is in a basement in downtown Reno, Nevada. But we do have some windows. And a full bar. And some of the most fun, easy-going and attractive staff in the software development world. We’ve also got about 10 great restaurants within a few blocks. I’ve gained 10 lbs since we moved to this location.

Reno is a nature lover’s paradise. World-famous Lake Tahoe is minutes away, depending on how far away you are at the time. The gorgeous blue alpine jewel is so big and deep, it could cover the entire state of California with three feet of water. Whether or not that’s true, I’m not sure. But I do know it’s home to a lake monster, Tessie. Tubing the Truckee River that runs through the center of town is a favorite pastime among drunken yahoos, and sometimes us. If you ski or board, you’ll appreciate company-mandated half-days when there is fresh pow pow.

There’s a dog in our office named Opal. Sometimes we have additional dogs. You’ll be able to get lots of work done in your own private cubicle when you’re not strafing Nerf and rubber band fire. We boast a minimal amount of office politics and several college interns you can live vicariously through. They love to tell what they can remember of their escapades.

And according to me, you’ll be very happy here.

Required skills:

Should sleep, eat, bleed Rails (both Rails 2 and 3 experience)
Experience with large projects
Maybe written a gem or two
Heroku experience
Strong believer in TDD, BDD
Strong jQuery/JavaScript skills
Experience in scaling web applications
Strong understanding of SQL and database optimization

Desired skills:

Experience with Git
UI design experience + CSS
Working knowledge of Photoshop (since the UI team will give you crazy mocks that I expect to magically become reality)
You’ll be your own manager, so the ability to know what to do and get it done is a good skill to have.
