Description:
ResearchMob is an early stage startup that aims to shake up the market research industry. This is an established and good-sized market, but the status quo customer experience … sucks, and we aim to change that. We’ve validated the market need, we’ve fine-tuned the business model, and we’ve developed a functioning alpha running on Rails. Now we need you, the lead developer, to come on board and build out the product.
We’ll be quietly launching the prototype soon, and learning from how customers interact with it: determining what features customers want, tweaking the offering to achieve product/market fit, and so forth. You’ll be the third member of our team, and we’ll be organized (a la Steve Blank’s Customer Development ideas & Eric Ries’ ideas on lean startups). The two business types will be the Customer Development team (finding early evangelizing, customers; learning about their needs; improving our understanding of the problem space) and you’ll be the Product Development team (the visionary for “how do we solve these user problems?” and the hands-on person for implementing it in Ruby/Rails).

Responsibilities
- Work with the Customer Development team to refine understanding of the users’ problems (Collaborate with the folks wearing the marketing/sales hats)
- Act as the Product Development team to design solutions to these problems (Be the Product Visionary)
- Act as the hands-on developer that implements these solutions
Experience
- Previous developer experience at startup
- 3+ years of web app experience, 1+ years of Ruby on Rails
- Extensive database design & implementation experience
Skills
- Fluency with Agile development
- Ability to design scalable, high-performance architectures
- Command of the entire application stack (UI, front-end, back-end, DB, etc)
- Passionate, creative, can-do attitude
- Entrepreneurial and extremely driven to succeed
- Able to work well in a team
