Description:
We are seeking a Ruby developer to join an exciting development team that is
building world-class SaaS products for the service industry. We are located in
Truckee, CA near Lake Tahoe.
You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining custom
software applications for use internally within the company as well as externally
by clients on the Internet. You should strive to design a robust and well-organized
architecture that is adaptable to changing business needs. Your code should be
clean, easily understood, well documented and tested.
Initial day-to-day responsibilities will include handling support requests, data-
conversions, adding new functionality and fixing any issues that come up with the
existing software applications. New applications are designed and developed on
an as-needed per project basis.
You should have demonstrable knowledge and experience with MVC, RESTful
design principles and object-oriented design patterns. Daily responsibilities
include working with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, HTML, XML, Javascript,
Linux and Git version control. You should be familiar with ‘best practices’ for each
listed areas. You should also have experience with CSS, jQuery, API design,
Ruby extensions and basic statistics.
We’d love to know in which areas you are expert, which you enjoy, and which you
are already looking forward to learning.
Required skills:
•
Minimum 3 years with Ruby on Rails framework
•
Experience with test-driven and “agile” principles
•
General object-oriented programming ability
•
Experience with XML parsing and remote form submissions
•
Working knowledge of Linux, MySQL, XML / XPath, jQuery, Git
•
Basic system administration skills
•
Experience with external APIs
Desired skills:
•
Experience with Capistrano and Nokogiri
•
Advanced system administration skills
•
Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB are a plus
•
Experience with Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, SQS
•
Excellent organization and communication skills
•
Advocate of best practices
•
A good sense of humor!
•
BS or equivalent experience
