Description:
Our financial client in Silver Spring, MD is looking for a Web Developer
- 2 or so years of strong Ruby on Rails development experience (AND / OR – if the applicant has a strong publicly available website that they built on their own)
- UNIX skills – understanding of UNIX permissions, directory structure, common UNIX commands and basic scripting, etc
- Experience with some form of source control (cvs, svn, git, etc)
- Experiencing setting up an Apache web server using modrails (aka Phusion Passenger)
- Strong JavaScript skills, experience with AJAX. jQuery experience is a plus, but the person should at least have used two of the public JavaScript libraries out there enough to be able to compare them (Prototype, Mootools, jQuery, YUI, script.aculo.us, etc).
- Understands SQL and is comfortable writing their own queries
- Experience setting up a database (MySQL, PostgreSQL) for use with Rails.
- Experience with REST web services, understands Rails routing is a plus
- Solid understanding of HTML with CSS, web standards, JSON, and AJAX programming.
