Ruby Developers – Stealth Mode “Project X” – for NYC Global Software Firm

Join a Brand name company with a Global Presence that has committed to RoR for building new “yet to be disclosed” Revenue Generating Product that will be leveraged globally.

This is a Ground Floor opportunity for a start up division within a Global Software firm that is building a new product from the ground up. This is highly funded and highly visible. Product details are still “under wraps”, but an entire development team is being built around the product. Technology stack will be Ruby, RoR, Mogrel, Capistrano, Nginx, Oracle, etc.

I’ve been asked to identify the best Ruby talent that I can in the marketplace – at all levels. This company is based in NYC and will assist with relocating candidates from across the country. The new product will be a web based Revenue Generating Web Product and the team will grow from 0 – 30 people over the next 12 months. This team will be part of the firm’s Web R&D team, and looked to for any and all web initiatives across the entire company moving forward.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

Senior Software Engineers that are technical hobbyists and well rounded with 3-10 years of development experience building and deploying Ruby on Rails applications in start-up environments. A preference for using Agile software development to regularly deliver high quality software from conception to production in short iterations. Requires deep technical skills around architecting and scaling modern Web-based applications.

As part of a new development team, you will have a chance to impart your ideas and shine. Technical leaders will have a chance to build this product the right way from the ground up. The slate is blank right now. You will work with Ruby on Rails from the Unix command line through the front end UI. You will leverage your past experience developing transactional consumer facing sites to develop high volume mission critical web applications. A passion for scripting will go a long way to eliminate redundant tasks and automate as much as possible to leave more time for development. Ideal candidates will have strong Database skills, not just connecting and retrieving; schema and design. Additionally, you should be well versed with Web services; building and consuming APIs, creating them, consuming them and all the authentication business that comes with it. Any experience with other technologies/concepts like Hadoop, Couch, NLP, or Machine learning will go a long way!
